Born in Brighton in East Sussex, England, Dorothy lived and worked in Sussex until 2015. In 1987 she found a beautiful old farmhouse up a mountain near Paciano in Umbria, Italy which started as a holiday home but over the years she spent more and more time there. She now lives in Italy permanently with her husband Barnet Boy, two dogs and a menagerie of cats.
Largely self-taught, with no family background or interest in the arts, it was at high school that Dorothy studied art and was completely smitten by it in large part to a very enthusiastic art teacher! Once she started she couldn't stop drawing and painting and that love developed into a serious hobby. So much so that she had a studio built onto the house in Italy. Since 2015 that hobby has blossomed out into a second career and she continues to be 'seduced by colour'.
In her gallery you will find beautiful pieces for your home or work space. Subjects range from florals to cute cats and dogs, major towns and cities to more local images of where she lives in Italy as well as healing art and colour harmony. She specialises in photo painting using her own photographs and using digital techniques to develop the story of the images further with colours and textures. The pieces she creates always have a story, a message she is trying to get across or imagery to make you stop and think.
